Possible discussion topics for future calls:
(1) Further discussion of recent CHIME autocorrelation paper (Reza, others...). Reza agreed to go into more depth at our next call Feb 3. (Note New Year in China is Feb 17)
(2) Further discussion about cylinder analysis (Shifan, Reza, others...)
(3) Electromagnetic simulations and measurements of Mutual Coupling in 21 cm arrays (Peter, others...)
(4) Xuelei would like to have a discussion on the equipment of the new cylinders. New grant allows several options, such as number of feeds on different cylinders and so on.
He should introduce himself the discussion by a presentation - He might do it the next time (Feb. 3rd) - but maybe not, as he will be travelling in the US at that time and he would be in California - The teleconf time would not be very convenient for him.
Jixia reported on status at Tianlai site.
- RFI on site in the band 758-788 MHz, from 8 AM-2AM , due to mobile phone towers.
Some adjustments were made by the telephone company, following Tianlai request, which has decreased the RFI.
- Dish array RFI source has been identified to be due to the dish angular position encoders. New encoders will be installed that should reduce this RFI, but need some mechanical adjustment and adapters.
- Ongoing work also on the Cylinder correlator using ROACH boards and GPU servers (new GPU servers, upgraded OS (Linux), faster memory chips)
