We have all been touched by the coronavirus pandemic including many of us who have lost loved ones. We continue to struggle with this as a community and our hearts go out to everyone affected by this.
We delayed the 14th Intersections meeting from June 2021 to June 2022, and then again to August 2022 in the hope of having an in-person meeting with significant international participation. We have achieved this, but COVID is still a risk, particularly to those who are not vaccinated.
For the meeting, we encourage people to wear masks while indoors. We are below the capacity of the meeting rooms so people should try and spread out. There is a nice veranda right outside the conference area, and we encourage people to take conversations outside.
If you are not feeling well before the conference or start feeling symptoms at the conference, please self-isolate and contact the organizers.
The test positivity rate in the US is going down but is still in double digits and probably will be throughout the meeting. Many people with COVID infections are asymptomatic. Please consider taking a self-test before traveling to the meeting and please take precautions like wearing a mask while traveling to the conference in places like airports and airplanes where social distancing is impossible.
More information on protecting yourself and others while traveling is available at the CDC web site.
Thank you and let's have a safe and healthy meeting!
